His victory in the Mark Alexander Scott Sales Company/VP Racing Fuels Spike/J & D boosted him to second in the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint standings, just 27 behind leader Mike Spencer, who finished fourth in Thursday’s feature. Hunter Schuerenberg finished second ahead of Bud Kaeding, Spencer and Wes Gutierrez, while USAC National Drivers Championship point leader Bryan Clauson was sixth. Ryan Bernal was the fastest of 49 qualifiers. AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car point leader Levi Jones finished 13th, while USAC National Drivers Championship runner-up Kyle Larson finished fifth in the semi and did not transfer to the feature. The “Budweiser Oval Nationals” continues Friday and Saturday at The PAS.
