Lucas Oil MLRA Schedule Takes Shape for 2014


Wheatland, MO | Nov. 22, 2013 - The Lucas Oil MLRA schedule has taken shape for the 2014 season and boasts a slew of new race tracks, along with a number of tracks fans and drivers are extremely familiar with. "Ernie Leftwich and I have worked extremely hard to put together a quality schedule for 2014," stated Series Director Dan Robinson. "We worked hard to strike a balance between what works well for our northern and southern contingent of drivers and fans. We are also excited to be able to showcase Lucas Oil and our series at a host of new tracks this year too."

The 26th season will get underway on April 4th and 5th at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE for the Spring Meltdown. Then it will be on to Lucas Oil Speedway for the MLRA Spring Nationals which has been expanded into a two day show. New tracks in Independence and Davenport, Iowa, dot the schedule on May 9th and 10th. The following weekend the first two of four races will be held at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The Crown Jewel Lucas Oil Show Me 100 will bring down the month of May.

TRIPP “GRAND MARSHAL” FOR THURSDAY’S USAC “TURKEY NIGHT”

Perris, CA | Nov. 22, 2013 - An 80-year-old motorsports tradition unfolds next Thursday night at Perris Auto Speedway as the 73rd running of the “Turkey Night Grand Prix” showcases USAC’s Honda National and Western Midget series in the 2013 season finale.

In fitting tribute to the winningest USAC Midget driver of all time, Ron “Sleepy” Tripp of Costa Mesa, Calif. will serve as the event’s Grand Marshal. Twice a USAC National champion, Tripp added seven Western titles to his resume, which reflects 160 total USAC National and regional feature victories! A frequent “Turkey Night” competitior during his career, Tripp was the race runner-up in 1979 and 1987 and was third in 1984 and 1986.

Jupiter, FL | Nov. 21, 2013 - After an up and down season for Phoenix Racing in 2013.. ”We are so excited to have David join are team for 2014" said Amy Leidig.

The 59 of Phoenix Racing was driven by Jac Haudenschild during the 2013 racing season traveling thousands of miles over the east coast and Midwestern United States. Towards the end of the season Phoenix Racing found out Jac would no longer be with them for the rest of the season. Owners Tom and Sherry Leidig found themselves in search of a driver to race The 2013 World Finals in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tim Kaeding filled the seat for the Final Race of 2013.
