Warrior Region Renews Sanction with ASCS

by Bryan Hulbert
TULSA, OK | Nov. 26, 2013 - Amid rumors of a possible split between the Warrior Region as the Tulsa, Okla. based American Sprint Car Series, the Missouri arm of the ASCS Nation will remain for the 2014 season.

Talking with Larry about the coming season, the longtime Warrior Region official envisions growing the series both in terms of races, and corporate support, “What I really want to see happen is to begin developing more partnerships with Missouri based companies to help support Sprint Car racing and the drivers and at the same time, bring them into the racing fold. Missouri has always been kind of a hotbed for open wheel racing, and I don’t want to see that diminishing.”

YUMA, AZ | Nov. 26, 2013 - Steve Drake of San Luis Obispo held a four point advantage over Pismo Beach’s Tony Toste going into the final weekend of West Coast Late Model Shootout competition at Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, Arizona this past weekend. Heavy rain forced officials to cancel the weekend’s events. The two-day show will not be rescheduled with Steve Drake being crowned the 2013 West Coast Late Model Shootout Champion.

SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DIRT CHAMPIONSHIP THIS WEEKEND AT TYGERBERG RACEWAY!!

Kraaifontein, SA | Nov. 26, 2013 - Tygerberg Raceway will be hosting the DO4SA National Event on Nov. 30th, where-after the South African Champion will be crowned. Ratified by MSA, SASCOC and the Dept Sport & Recreatio, this will be the ONLY recognized SA Championship in the country for Dirt Oval Track Racing in 2013. Any other competitor claiming to be the South African Champion (or SA1) will, therefore, be a fraud (like a false license plate on a road-car which is not registered on the E-Natis system). To be a South African Champion (SA1), your result needs to be registered with the relevant authorities, which will be the case following this prestigious DO4SA event.

Last weekend in the Late Model division, “SIR“ Chris Liebenberg showed everyone why he deserves that national title as he once again was in devastating form and nobody could get remotely close to him. Only Otto Graven and Thys Valentyn managed to hang in there.

Chris Bell looks to add POWRi Midgets’ Battle at the Center to long list of victories in 2013

DU QUOIN, Ill. | Nov. 26, 2013 - Chris Bell has been sensational in his first full season driving a Midget, winning the Honda USAC National Midget Dirt championship and four features in a partial schedule in POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets. The 18-year-old from Norman, Okla., will be racing to add the fourth annual Great Clips Battle at the Center, an all-star type non-points event promoted by POWRi, to his list of victories on Dec. 7 on the one-sixth Mini Magic Mile at the Southern Illinois Center.

“The Battle at the Center is always tough with large car counts and it’s always getting bigger and better,” Bell said. “Your car can get trapped in a hard heat race and get buried in the field. You need some luck. I had a ton of fun last year (finishing 13th in the feature). It’s really a fun race, the track is really fun and (POWRi co-founder) Kenny Brown does an awesome job with the track. It would be a cool race to win.”
