Roseburg, OR | Nov. 20, 2013 - After a long battle, beloved racer dad Mike Lyons succumbed to cancer last Friday. His young daughter Erin and son David (both racers) lost their father, crew chief and their best friend. But on "Daddy's orders...", both carried on the family tradition and went racing last weekend at the Roseburg Indoor Kart Speedway. Race on Baby Lyons... Race on.

Jimmy Owens Wins Third Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship


WAYCROSS, GA | Nov. 20, 2013 – Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN secured his third consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship in 2013. The “Newport Nightmare” and the Reece Monument Racing Team put up some amazing stats during the 2013 LOLMDS season. Owens will take home $104,000 in cash awards at the Lucas Oil Championship Awards banquet, including the $75,000 first-place prize for winning the series points championship. For the LOLMDS season, Owens will have earned over $370,000 in winnings, contingency challenges and special bonus awards on the tour in 2013.

Owens won eight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events during the 2013 season. His wins came at East Bay Raceway Park’s (FL) DART Winternationals in February; Lonestar Speedway (TX) and Hagerstown Speedway (MD) in April; Lucas Oil Speedway (MO) in May; I-80 Speedway (NE) and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (PA) in July; Attica Raceway Park (OH) and the “Hillbilly Hundred” at I-77 Motorsports Park (WV) in September.

CHEVY SUPER LM SERIES ADDS 411 MOTOR SPEEDWAY TO 2014 SCHEDULE


CARTERSVILLE, GA | Nov. 20, 2013 - America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” Super Late Model Series, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, has added an event at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN to its 2014 schedule with the $3,000-to-win $300-to-start Volunteer Chevrolet 50 on September 20, 2014.

The 2013 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Volunteer Chevrolet 50 at 411 Motor Speedway was rained out, so the series will be making their first appearance at the high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval. Race fans at 411 Motor Speedway can expect close competition and easy access to the top drivers in the Southeast.

USMTS to Kick Off 2014 Season with 11 Dates in February

Felker gunning for 1st victory in POWRi’s Battle at the Center on Dec. 7

DU QUOIN, Ill. | Nov. 20, 2013 - Andrew Felker will be gunning for his first victory in the fourth annual Great Clips Battle at the Center presented by K & N Filters, a non-points, all-star event promoted by the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series on the one-sixth Mini Magic Mile at the Southern Illinois Center.

Felker is expected to be a serious contender to follow in the footsteps of previous winners Tony Stewart (2012), Bryan Clauson (2011) and Casey Schuman (2010) in the indoor event at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Felker drove from 11th on the grid to finish second in the feature a year ago in an event that had 67 entries. It was the sixth top-10 in eight features at the track for the 21-year-old from Carl Junction, Mo.

Peoria, AZ | Nov. 20, 2013 - Competing at the Canyon Speedway Park over the weekend for the Western World Championships, Rico Abreu had a strong opening two nights, before an early tangle on Saturday ended his night early.

“We had a really fast car all weekend long, and I really wanted to win another race for Keith and everyone, but it just didn’t work out,” Abreu said.
