DEREK ROBERTS MAGICAL SEASON - Rookie Rocks Sprint Championship at Skagit

Snohomish, WA Sept. 26, 2011 - Over the years very few rookies have won Championships at the high-banked 3/10th mile clay oval at Skagit Speedway. In 2011 Derek Roberts of Snohomish, WA accomplished just such a feat. With the highest car count of any division and plenty of competition night in and night out, winning a Sportsman Sprint Championship is demanding of preparation, perspiration and a little luck. The #42 Roberts Racing team did just that this year.

Kankakee, IL | Oct. 1, 2011 - #0 Terry Miller roared to the lead on the opening lap from his #2 starting position and dominated the UMP Stock Car Feature on night 2 of the Earl J. Hubert Memorial ROCKtoberfest event at Kankakee County Speedway last Saturday.

Knoxville, IA | Oct. 1, 2011 - Martinsville, Indiana’s Don O’Neal had not been to Knoxville Raceway since 2004 when he was injured here, but the wait was worth it. He captured the 8th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores. The win was worth $40,000 for O’Neal. 19 year old Austin Hubbard led early in the 100-lap event. By the tenth lap, Brian Birkhofer trailed, followed by Scot Bloomquist, Darrell Lanigan and O’Neal. By lap 19, O’Neal had moved by Bloomquist and Birkhofer into the second position as a three-way battle developed for the lead involving O’Neal, Hubbard and Birkhofer. On lap 24, O’Neal shot around Hubbard for the lead.

Belleville, IL | Oct. 1st, 2011 - Brett Anderson won the Charlene Meents Memorial and Brad Loyet finished 13th driving with a flat tire to take his second straight championship Saturday in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series at Belle-Clair Speedway.

Chico, CA | Sept. 30 - Oct. 1, 2011 - It was a special night at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night. The Fall Nationals were being dedicated to Mike "CarWash" Avilla and earlier in the day a special barbeque was organized by his racing family to celebrate his life and times at sprint car races. However, what Mike would have really appreciated was the great 40-lap main event that showcased Shane Golobic and Tim Kaeding's epic battle that wasn't decided until the final lap.

Owings Owns Championship Night 358 Sprint Feature but Rohrbaugh Rocks 4th Series Title at Trail-Way

Hanover, PA | Sept. 30, 2011 - Steve Owings won the first, and also the last “358” sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway in 2011. But it was Jeff Rohrbaugh who claimed his fourth title in the past five years at the McSherrystown oval. “We came out of the box fast, and it’s nice to get a win at the end,” said Owings upon exiting the Valentine Motorsports/Westminster Transmissions #35 in victory lane, “I don’t know if we would have caught the #56 (Nate Snyder) if we hadn’t caught lapped traffic.”  FULL STORY & RESULTS

Cottage Grove, OR | Sept. 23-24, 2011 - In the fifty lap feature on Night 2, it was Colin Baker taking care of business and leading early but as the laps went down Kyle Miller would show his presence right behind him. In the first eighteen laps three cautions occurred keeping the field relatively close and it seemed a yellow was thrown right when lapped traffic was coming into play. A fuel stop at the twenty-fifth lap had Baker in front leading every lap from the green but things would change in lapped traffic during the second segment...
