West Coast Late Model Shootout Championship Battle to be Decided at Cocopah Speedway

Santa Maria, CA | Nov. 13, 2013 –The West Coast Late Model Shootout is preparing for their final two races of the season at Cocopah Speedway on November 22nd and 23rd. The weekend’s events will be co-sanctioned with the Championship Dirt Motorsports series and pay $1,200 to win and $200 to start on Friday and $2,000 to win and $400 to start on Saturday.

Steve Drake leads the West Coast Late Model Shootout points’ rankings with a four point advantage over Tony Toste. Drake has three series' wins this year, sweeping the last two races at Canyon Speedway Park. Toste broke through with his first career series victory during the Simkins Memorial at Santa Maria Speedway. Nick Bartels, two-time and defending series champion Clay Daly and Jason Papich complete the top five.

Tucson, Arizona’s RC Whitwell is the defending race winner and currently sits a top of the Championship Dirt Motorsports points’ standings. Since the series’ last visit, there has been numerous upgrades to the facility including new clay that was recently added creating a smooth surface. In the pits, “The Garage at Cocopah Speedway,” has been revamped selling food, beverages, ice, apparel, fuel and other items. In the stands, four VIP suites have been added along with a new souvenir stand, bigger concession stand, two new beer satellites and a photo backdrop. 


Ultimate Offroad in Yuma will be sponsoring the Late Model dash. The company owned by Sprint Car driver, Mike Martin, customizes off-road vehicles and installs lift kits along with differential repairs. You can visit them on the web at www.ultimate-off-road.com.
