Kwinana Beach, Western Australia | Oct. 22, 2011 -Round 2 of the R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series was held on the grand opening night at the Perth Motorplex. Wet weather late in the afternoon threatened a washout, with many teams loading their cars fearing the worse. Motorplex management was positive the weather would clear though, and asked the drivers, crews, and fans, for some time and patience. A couple of hours later, racing finally got underway, with all divisions having to sacrifice a round because of time constraints....

Seventeen high powered V8 Late Models, split into two Heats, hit the high-banked track, which was in surprisingly good condition after absorbing so much moisture. Ben Ludlow, after starting mid pack, was in great form, easily winning the first Heat, followed home by Brad Blake and Jay Cardy. Warren Oldfield won the second Heat, leading from start to finish. Craig Vosbergen and Jason Oldfield filled the minor placings. Motorplex champion Brad Ludlow, Ben Ludlow, and Nat Muir, were non starters in the Feature as all had engine issues.

The Feature was another awesome display of dirt track racing, with the tricky surface lending itself to a bit of paint swapping between the cars. The most damage however, was done when the Oldfield brothers Jason and Jamie came together. Jeremy Hale was also involved, with more body panels left on the track than remained on the cars.

Warren Oldfield emerged a triumphant winner of the Feature, and was quick to acknowledge brother Jamie for his success. Warren had to borrow an engine from Jamie in order to compete on the night. Craig Vosbergen made amends for spinning out of second place in sight of the flag in Round 1 at Ellenbrook, by bringing the #8 home second this time, while Brad Blake finished third, to back up his runner up position at Ellenbrook.

Round 2 A-Main RESULTS:
1st Warren Oldfield, 2nd Craig Vosbergen, 3rd Brad Blake, 4th Jay Cardy, 5th Jason Oldfield, 6th Matt Goodlad, 7th Jeremy Hale, 8th Jamie Oldfield, 9th Jason Moyle, 10th Michael Holmes. DNF: Koran Atkinson, Paul Stubber, David Nylander, Lee Watt, Ben Ludlow, Brad Ludlow, Nat Muir.

More Cars for Round 3...by Lee Oldfield
Kwinana Beach, Western Australia | Nov 9, 2011 - Round 3 of the R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series will be held at the Perth Motorplex Saturday November 12. A stellar field of 24 high powered V8 Late Models is set to hit the wide open spaces and high banks of the Perth Motorplex to battle for R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series glory.

Record wet weather this month on the west coast will make it a challenge for the track curators. After their amazing efforts following the rain at the last meeting though, the west coasts best Late Model racers are confident that a great surface will be served up in order to put on an awesome show at the five star complex.

The Oldfield brothers, Warren and Jamie, have dominated the R2C Competition Filters Pro Dirt Series so far, and are planning on continuing their teams winning streak, and extending Jamie’s points lead.

Jason Oldfield is yet to claim a victory this season in his #11 Litchfield Motorsport late model and he will be fighting hard to make this weekend his first of hopefully many more wins to come.

But with a field this big they won’t be the only ones looking to claim victory this Saturday night, as there will be plenty of other contenders on hand.

Brad Blake and Craig Vosbergen have been on the podium this season, and would love nothing better than to take home a first place. Jay Cardy also has a podium finish and is currently second in series points. He will be eager to claim his first win of the season.

Ryan Halliday returns to the Motorplex for the first time this season, confident of retaining the great form he ended last season with.

Other drivers to look out for are Matt Goodlad, Jason Moyle, and Ben and Brad Ludlow. You can also introduce into the mix a few new drivers joining the series, in Simon McNab, Chris Biddle, Mick Rawcliffe, Peter Seaton, Bryn Haythornthwaite, and Ray Leonard.

There are many others also chasing glory, and with the number of cars on hand, and the expected hard, close racing, the Perth Motorplex is the only place to be this Saturday night.
