Rutherford Rips 600 Pro Micro Sprint Win & Lewis Lands Pro Title at Middleford

Seaford, Delaware | Oct. 22, 2011 - The final weekend of racing for the 2011 season at Middleford Speedway was a great one! The action was non-stop for two evenings. Friday night saw 23 270cc Micro teams come for the race and a whopping 43 600cc Micro teams for the big 600 Pro Series finale. Saturday the 270cc Micro’s increased their number to 28 while there were 38 600cc Micro’s at the track to battle it out for the 2011 Micro Nationals Winner title. The 600cc Micro feature was a wild one. Not too wild for Mike Rutherford though as he claimed victory over the thundering herd. Dash winner Kyle Lick held the race lead and worked his way out from the field to a comfortable amount between cautions…but Rutherford was on the move behind him. At the halfway point of the race, Lick held on to a big lead over the field and Rutherford until a caution shortly after regrouped the field. Rutherford made his move and took over the first spot from Lick while Brock Zearfoss, Shane Lewis and Mike Dicely were the top five cars. Dicely and Zearfoss would not complete the race, leaving Rutherford to lead Lick, Lewis, Jeff Hartman and the super smoky machine of Tyler Ross to the checkered flag.
