60 PLUS CARS NOW ENTERED FOR THE GRAND ANNUAL AUSSIE SPRINTCAR CLASSIC!!

Story by Premier Speedway Media
Warrnambool AUS, 5th Dec | 2013 - The 42nd Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic nomination list has cracked the 60 barrier more than seven weeks out from what promises to be an amazing three nights of Sprintcar action at Premier Speedway Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium.

Adding to the list of Americans already nominated is four time and defending All-Star Circuit of Champions title holder Dale Blaney whom will campaign the ultra competitive David Doherty owned N6 entry.

Blaney comes to Australia on the back of another outstanding American season, during which the 1998 World of Outlaws Rookie and 2000 Kings Royal Winner took his career All-Star Circuit of Champions A feature victory tally to 99, becoming the most successful driver in the history of the All-Stars.

Along the way Blaney captured not only the All-Stars National Points Championship, but also the Ohio Region and Western Region points battles. He was also second in Ohio Speedweek points behind only Tim Shaffer while a third place in points was the result of a hotly contested Eastern Region points championship.

The native of Hartford, Ohio originally made his name as an outstanding college basketballer with the University of West Virginia. His successful college career saw him eventually drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA in 1986, before he opted to pursue his racing career.

The charismatic Blaney is a welcome addition to the Classic field aboard the Active Power Steering backed machine with renowned crew chief Tim ‘Moth’ Gleeson on the spanners.

Joining the four-time winner of the tough All-Star Circuit of Champions tour is five time Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series Champion, the ever-popular John Vogels.

Vogels who resides in Simpson has been a long time Sprintcar competitor and is regarded as one of the most consistent performers in Victoria. His record in major events such as the Classic is also very strong.

Vogels and his family based team will again campaign the V70 Cool Chassis with the support of long time sponsors and supporters including Mainline Dynalog Dynamometers, Lucas Oil, Coogee Methanol, Vogels Motors, D&J Contracting and Colac Body Works.

With qualifying spots in the World Challenge to be held at Knoxville next August up for grabs and with the revamped Knoxville Nationals qualifying format, the Classic is sure to attract some of not only Australia’s but also the World’s best come January.

The 42nd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and supported by Oval Express Magazine, GJ Gardner Homes, KRE Race Engines and the Lady Bay Resort, Warrnambool will be held at Premier Speedway on January 24, 25 & 26, 2014.
