NINE INTERNATIONAL MIDGET DRIVERS HEADED TO WESTERN SPRINGS SPEEDWAY IN NEW ZEALAND

Auckland, NZ | Oct. 26, 2013 - Nine of the best midget drivers on the planet will touch down in Auckland later this year to compete in the four New Zealand rounds of the 2013/14 POWRI World Midget Series at WXC Speedway - Western Springs.

Returning Americans Jerry Coons Jr, Darren Hagen and Bryan Clauson will be joined on the plane by newcomers to our shores Rico Abreu and Christopher Bell.

Abreu has been a regular frontrunner in the USAC National Midget Series this year, piloting his Keith Kunz factory car to four impressive feature wins; including taking out a preliminary night at the USAC/POWRI Gold Crown Midget Nationals earlier this month.

Another Kunz product, Bell is considered one of the hottest prospects coming through the midget class of this generation. He is a frequent top qualifier and won the prestigious Belleville Midget Nationals as well as Indiana Speedweek in 2013.

With these two rising stars arriving alongside USAC Triple Crown winner Coons Jr, USAC National Midget Series Champion Hagen and Indy Car driver Bryan Clauson, the Americans will be firm favourites to dominate the podium positions in Auckland.

POWRI Australian Midget Car Champion Nathan Smee will headline the four Australians crossing the ditch for the four events.

He will be joined by midget veteran Adam Clarke, who currently holds four Australian State Championships; multiple feature winner in the USA Matt Smith; and Sydney Speedway Track Champion Matthew Jackson.

With these international additions, speedway fans can expect to see upwards of 50 midgets racing on any one night throughout December and the New Year at WXC Speedway - Western Springs.
