Krikke MotorSport "Throwback Thursday" (Kaeding & Tatnell)

Krikke MotorSport "Throwback Thursday"
4x World Series Sprint Car Champions
6x Australian National Sprint Car Champions

BUNBURY, Western Australia | Oct. 31, 2013 - Founded in 1980, Krikke Motorsport is one of the powerhouses of Australianspeedway (dirt track). Driver's Tim Kaeding and Brooke Tatnell will be on the wheel this year.

The Krikke family thought they would offer some insight into the history of the team with ‘THROWBACK THURSDAY’. It’ll be a picture looking back on the highs, lows and in-betweens of all things KMS. We hope you’ll enjoy the drive down memory lane with us. So for our first photo, we thought where better to start than where it all began...

After purchasing the first sprint car by Peter Krikke (Shane’s Dad; Ron’s older brother) Krikke MotorSport was founded. Bob Trostle bought a team to Australia and this car was Bob’s own ‘house’ car, the famed Vice Grip #20 and was campaigned on this tour by Mike Brookes.

After Peter purchased the car from Trostle, speedcar legend John Fenton ran the car for a few shows before this night (in photo) when the car was raced by none other than Garry Rush at Bunbury Speedway.

Fenton was to have raced the car on this night but when Rush had engine trouble in his own car Peter & Fenton agreed that Rush would race the Bunbury Toyota #99 for the remainder of the night. In the end Rush flipped the car several times down the backstraight handing the fledgling Krikke MotorSport team their first of many hard lessons…

Who would have thought that night standing looking at the buckle and bent race car this team would become arguably the most successful sprintcar team in Aus-tralian Speedway history.
