FLOMATON SPEEDWAY SIGNS ON NeSMITH PERFORMANCE STREET STOCK DIVISION FOR 2014


CARTERSVILLE, GA | – Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL has signed on with the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division for the 2014 season. Drivers in the Flomaton Speedway Street Stock Division will now be able to compete for both a Track Points Fund and a National Points Fund over a 27-week period from March 24, 2014 through September 29, 2014.


Flomaton Speedway returns to the NeSmith Racing Family of Tracks after being involved with the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models for several seasons. Flomaton Speedway was a part of the NeSmith Chev/OMG WRS in 2008, 2010, and 2011.

Street Stock drivers at Flomaton Speedway will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division tracks under a common set of rules and point system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season. This format has created an increase in the number of Street Stocks racing in the Southeast, as the series featured a total of 264 different drivers that earned points during the 2013 season.

Flomaton Speedway joins a growing list of tracks in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division. Southern Raceway in Milton, FL will also be a new NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division track for 2014.

Tracks that were sanctioned during the 2013 season were Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS, Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL, Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Having a common set of rules gives Street Stock competitors the option of racing at any NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division sanctioned track without having to make any changes to their race cars. They can also compete in the Mississippi Street Stock Series touring races. MSSS has adopted the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division rules.

The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division rules also give competitors the option to save money on their engine costs by using the $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine that is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.

The Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine proved to be a very competitive in 2013 with five of the top 10 drivers in the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings using the economical engine with 14 wins among them.
