Shane Stewart Smokin' Hot on Aussie Tour

Australia | Jan. 4, 2011 - Fresh off of his second Lucas Oil ASCS National Championship, Shane Stewart has been wreaking havoc in Australia, as the American opened his tour down under with two consecutive victories before a third place finish last night.

Shane got underway on December 30th, as him and fellow American, Rico Abreu, went to battle on the Kingaroy Speedway, as the American Duo were the first to ever race at the speedway.

Stewart and his Kratzman Caravans/KRE Engines/BK Trading mount were quick out of the box as Shane went directly form the airport to the track and timed in with quick time and set a new track record.

In the feature, Stewart put on a clinic, as he charged around the top-side of the speedway in his Kaeding Performance backed No.77 entry, and went on to pick up the win.

On New Years Day, the team traveled to the Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane, AU where he would again join fellow American Rico Abreu, and Donny Schatz, in what would ultimately be an exciting way to ring in 2012.

After qualifications, the three Americans sat on top of the speed charts with Stewart besting Schatz and Abreu.

Following heat race action, Stewart found himself in the Dash, and ultimately winning it. The victory would put Stewart and Schatz on the front row of the 30-lap finale, but Schatz elected to take the Front Row challenge that inverted the field and put the American duo in the seventh row, and added five laps and more money to the feature.

Still poised to pick up the win, Stewart flexed his American muscle to the Australian crowd, and thrilled on lookers as he charged his way through traffic and grabbed the win over Donny Schatz.

Last night the Kratzman Carvan/BK Trading team again checked in to the Archerfield Speedway as they were joined by more American and Australian stars.

With 35 cars checked into the pit area, Stewart would time in with the sixth fastest lap on the night.

A fifth and a seventh place finish in each of his two heats, again transferred the two-time Knoxville 360 Nationals Champion into the 6- car dash, and Shane would tally a fifth place finish to put him in the third row of the feature event.

The feature saw cars fight for the bottom of the speedway, as the middle and top of the track had gone away, and were tough to make any ground up on.

As Shane showed patience, he was able to work his way up to the third spot, behind Australian ace, Robbie Farr, and Schatz.

“We have been really strong down here right out of the box,” explained Stewart. “These guys have been working their tails off, and I am very comfortable in the car, and hopefully I can pick up another win with them while were still together for a few more races.”

Shane would like to thank Kratzman Caravans, KRE Engines, BK Trading in Australia, and Kaeding Performance for their support of his Australian tour aboard the 77 machine.
