Tribute to the Legendary "OFIXCO Racing Teams" - USAC, NCRA, WoO, CRA & AMA
video by Brian Satterwhite
Tulsa, OK - The Oklahoma Fixture Company (OFIXCO) was a founded and operated by Lloyd K. Stephens and grew into a motorsports power broker throughout the 1970s -80s. Mr Stephens believed strongly in the synergy of motorsports sponsorship and his teams were involved with everything from Sprint Cars to Champs Cars and flat track motorcycles to drag boats. The company funded the teams and the racing fueled sales for the company. Mr Stephens had a knack for hiring excellent folks in all positions (including racers) that each understood they were an ambassador for the company...

Some of the best in the business drove and rode for for OFIXCO Racing Teams: Ron Shuman, Sammy Swindell, Jerry Stone, Jan Opperman, Dave Bradley, Aaron Lemmons, Ray Crawford, Frazier, Armstrong, Breazeal, Williamson, and more. Unfortunately, the racing operations fell victim to a hostile takeover of the company by shareholders around 1986. The new owners felt that the racing was a waste of time and money and cancelled funding, forced the racing teams off the company property and pushed Lloyd out of the daily business operations. The "strategy" of the new owners destroyed the entire company in a few short years.

I worked there from 1984 to 1991. Made a lot of friends there's a lot of good memories. At the end it was hell working there so I left. Meanest bunch of people I ever had the pleasure of working for. So sad to see stout of business but no sunrise. Terry from Illinois.
