Sturgeon Wins 1st SST Race and Loses Hair in Sprint Series of Texas at Killeen

Killeen, TX | Oct. 29, 2011 - Keith “Fabio” Sturgeon driving #77 won his first ever SST feature event Saturday night at Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen. The pre Halloween introductions and “trick or treat” at intermission gave the audience a chance to meet all the drivers and learn that Sturgeon, who has the nick name of “Fabio,” had been earlier challenged to have his hair cut if he won...

True to the promise, Danny Merrell came up with a pair of scissors and made the clip to “Fabio’s” hair in victory circle. Sturgeon, who won his heat race, started on the pole of the feature and lead every lap to take the win. Kenny Elwood in #21 gave chase from his sixth place starting spot to take second. Mike Herring in #99 made several runs at the leaders but had to settle for third from his eight place start. The final SST event of the 2011 season is scheduled for Saturday November 12th at Mountain Creek (formerly Grand Prairie) Speedway.
