Racer's 22mos old Son Needs Our Help - Please Share!

Auckland, NZ | Oct. 28, 2011 - Little Jesse Bessant's parents are holding on to the unusual hope that his brain problems may be caused by an infection rather than cancer. At 22 months of age, Jesse Noah Bessant is a stockcar mad speedway fan who loves anything to do with cars, and his parents wish is that he will grow up to will follow in his Dad’s footsteps and race a Stockcar. But seven weeks ago Jesse was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. After the diagnosis, his parents (Michelle and Shane Bessant) were told that because of the position of the tumour in Jesse’s brain stem, all they could do was buy Jesse some time.  However, the biopsy results have shown something different, a medical mystery...

No cancerous tumor tissue was found.  Instead, the results showed an “inflammation” caused by an infection. The only problem is the Surgeons and Neurological Specialists in New Zealand and the specialists contacted overseas have never seen anything like this and there are no documented cases to compare to, so they are classing it as a medical mystery.

In November, Jesse will have another MRI to prepare for a second 5 hour brain biopsy to try and gain more definitive results.  But any hope of finding out answers may lie in Jesse going overseas for tests and treatment, and that's where you can help.  Jesse’s family and friends are currently fundraising to pay for travel and out of country medical expenses.

There are a lot of unknowns as the moment; no one knows what the tumour is, how to treat it, or how long Jesse has to live. A small blessing is that, at 22 months of age, Jesse is so young he doesn’t know what’s going on and to him his roller coaster world is normal. He is a very happy, loving little boy - full of smiles and laughter. Jesse’s favourite things are Speedway and the first "Cars" movie.  Like many of our children, he is car crazy. Hopefully someone, somewhere, will find the answers so Jesse can grow up and drive a Stockcar just like his Dad.  PLEASE HELP THEM!

A bank account has been opened and all proceeds of fund raising or donations go straight to the medical care of Jesse... every little piece helps:
