Hull Claims Monster Energy Sprint Championship Despite Hurley Domination at Jacksonville
video by Ross Wece
Jacksonville, IL | Sept. 30, 2011 - Jimmy Hurley came into the final night of Monster Energy Sprint Car Series only 28 points behind leader Jerrod Hull and needing to get every point possible to have a chance at taking the Championship from Hull. Hurley did exactly that by winning every time his car hit the track by claiming his heat, the dash and feature event.
However, perfection wasn’t enough as Hull was almost equally impressive ending with a second place feature finish, just one spot behind Hurley and ahead of third place Terry McCarl, who had led the early portions of the race. Rounding out the top 5 were AJ Bruns and Robbie Standridge.
