Lucas Oil Aussie Midget Series Heads to Lismore Speedway and the Diamond Air Golden Jubilee!
AUSTRALIA | Nov. 25, 2013 - As the east coast copes with wash outs at 3 separate race meetings in QLD, NSW and VIC, a new idea has arisen; a race meeting nears… round 4 of the 2013-2014 POWRi Australian Speedcar Series this weekend (Nov 30) at Lismore Speedway!
Two race meetings held at two tracks over two consecutive weekends. Both tracks announced as upcoming hosts of the POWRi World Midget Championship in Jan/Feb 2014; a large gap in the NSW racing calendar (more than a break with wash out after wash out!). Lismore this weekend, followed by Archerfield Speedway Dec 7 (TV coverage).
Now is your chance for track time! Now is the time to challenge yourself! Now is the time to race!
This weekend, November 30 marks the 50th Feature race scheduled over the last 9 years of SSS competition under the proud leadership of Ken Jenkins. Fittingly, the 50th Feature will be held at Lismore Speedway, the track under management of David Lander. Not only one of the best promoters in Australian Speedway history but also the fearless leader of the original Speedcar Super Series!
Racing towards the $2500 winners cheque courtesy of Diamond Air Group, the SSS offers a generous prize pool paying down to the B Main; $100 sponsored by TheSpeedwayShop.com.au for the top Time Trial qualifier; and a tyre bonus if the A Main winner uses four American Racer tyres when he crosses the line; there is plenty up for grabs for our Speedcar stars!
Three races have been held with three different winners taking to the podium this season. Current series leader, Brett “Illuminated” Thomas of QLD steers the pack of hard charging Midget racers, looking to take out his second feature race of the SSS season. But will he have the goods against the likes of New South Welshmen Matt Jackson and fellow Queenslander Michael Harders; running 2nd & 3rd behind him in the point score?
Thirteen contracted drivers committed to compete at all 6 rounds held in Queensland and New South Wales, with local drivers adding to the eastern contingent when Midget racing takes centre stage. Khaz Fahy suffered engine problems at round 2, but is working hard to be back on track soon!
Five time NZ Champion Michael Kendall, former AMCA Champion Adam Wallis, NSW State Champion Troy Jenkins (to name one of many career statistics), Qld’s young gun Rusty Whittaker follows his Dad’s footsteps and travels to compete without being contracted (Aus Champs podium next?); Mitch Brien N63 is travelling north for SSS action, Matt Smith returns in the Jason Gray Q7, QLD’s Darren “Turbo” Vine & the return of Brock Dean!
Too many to mention, BUT no one can ignore the one and only Adam Clarke in the McAllan Motorsport W21 (more to follow!).
Cars and drivers from across the country are ready to compete; former Champions, title holders, passionate racers, winners:
