Lincoln, NE | Dec. 4th, 2013 – A 2013 season that at first saw a major change, ended with major progress for the Frank Galusha Racing camp! The year saw the Nebraska team at 18 different tracks throughout six different states while running two very distinctly different machines. From participating in the entire Illinois speed week, the Tulsa Shootout, and the Show-Me Showdown the year was full of up and downs.
The year started off at the annual Tulsa Shootout held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the biggest micro race in the country Galusha and the team decided to break out the biggest change in 2013 by running their new D1 Chassis for the first time. The event brought in great results in heat race and qualifier action and then the features took a crazy turn. A great run was in progress during the Non-Wing Outlaw A-Main while running in the top five, but a crazy turn of events left Galusha upside down and on the hook. Dazed and confused, Galusha and the team through on spares and hustled to get the car ready for the Winged A-Main where he picked up a career first Tulsa Shootout top ten by finishing ninth!
The racing season started off a bit slow for the team as mechanical and electrical issues halted their chances at impressive runs. The year slowly started to work back in their favor as the team picked off multiple wins early on in the season. July would come around and Galusha prepared to run the entire Illinois speed week.
Running at four different tracks in a week’s span while taking on the nation’s best, Galusha and his team managed to start all of the Illinois speed week A-Mains. A feat very impressive while running against tough competition like Thomas, Andrews, Sawyer and more! The team took away quite the lesson and gained plenty of experience in just that one week alone.
As the season started to wind down, more wins and great finishes were added to an already impressive resume. The season was finally capped off at the Show-Me Showdown in Missouri in the middle of October. A great event that saw Galusha claim podium finishes in both divisions of Non-Wing Outlaw and Winged Outlaw.
“All in all 2013 was not bad, but not the year we had hoped for. I set a goal of 16 wins trying to best my 2010 season but did not succeed with that goal. Looking back with great optimism, we learned a great deal making strides with our program and look forward to a stellar 2014 season! The goal is still to win a minimum of 16 races but to win one or more of the nation’s biggest races would put the icing on the cake.” Galusha said, concerning his racing year and future endeavors.
In the end it was a great year for Frank Galusha Racing! The biggest change in the program saw the switch to D1 Chassis and Driven Performance. Making claims that it was possibly the best change in their micro program, Galusha was more than happy with the car and companies performance. The team was immensely impressed with the quality of the cars performance combined with that of Driven Performance’s help and customer service. The car worked great in all track conditions and getting hooked up was never an issue. The company has something amazing going on and will soon blow up big time.
The major change for 2014 has already taken place, as Galusha has switched from running local engine builders to having a Brady Morgan, Metric Cycles power plant under the hood. The change looks to pay big dividends next year and FGR is ready to represent Metric Cycles in a great way.
In 2014 Galusha plans to be a strong force throughout the midwest. The team not only intends on dominating local competition, but taking home more of the big shows. He plans on being a threat at every race track they pull into next year and would like to add some POWRi victories to the resume. Given sufficient resources goals are to do more traveling and be able to compete and win at new venues. With a great car and a very new and strong engine package, Galusha expects nothing but big things with strong results all year long.
