Eckert Passes McCreadie Late for $20K National 100 Win at EAMS!
Phenix City, AL | Nov. 4, 2013 - Rick Eckert, of York, Pennsylvania, racked up his third 'National 100' title in exciting fashion on Sunday evening, November 3 at the storied East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama! Making his first trip to EAMS since 2006, Rick started his weekend on Saturday by posting the sixth quickest lap of the 40 entrants during Super Late Model qualifying and later scoring the win in his heat race. "Scrub" bested William Thomas, Jonathan Davenport, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Chris Madden in his prelim to earn the outside front row starting spot for Sunday's 100-lap headliner.
During the course of the 'National 100,' Rick ran third early in the race, but was back up to second by the halfway mark of the unsanctioned event. Rick then hounded leader Tim McCreadie and eventually made a daring outside pass coming off turn four, as the leaders raced towards the white flag. He had the lead by the flagstand and pulled away on the final circuit to claim the $20,100 payday. Rick beat McCreadie, Scott Bloomquist, Randy Weaver, and Chris Madden to the checkers to bag his eighth Dirt Late Model triumph of the 2013 campaign!
