After Podium in Deep Fried 75, Ray Cook Heads South to Ocala this Weekend

BRASSTOWN, NC | Nov. 21, 2013 - Ray Cook and his self-owned #53 team ventured to the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel,Tennessee on November 15-16 for the 2nd Annual 'Deep Fried 75.' The unsanctioned program at DRRP boasted a $10,000 top prize. During preliminary action on Friday night, Ray clicked off the second quickest lap in Group A during qualifying and later scored the win in his heat race over Tanner English, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Eric Cooley.
When the 75-lap main event rolled off on Saturday evening, Ray started the race from the inside of the second row. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace ran as high as second during the 'Deep Fried 75' before eventually netting a strong third place performance. Ray trailed only victor Josh Putnam and runner-up Dennis Erb, Jr. at the conclusion of the action-packed event.
Ray, who was also tabbed as the new MasterSbilt House Car driver for the 2014 season on Saturday, still has some unfinished business to tend to in 2013. The popular driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” will travel south to the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida on November 22-23 for the 9th Annual ‘Chevrolet Performance World Championship.’ NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series qualifying and heat races are scheduled for Friday night, while the consolation events and the 100-lap, $10,000 to win A-Main are slated for Saturday evening. Ray will pilot Florida car owner Howard Stalls’ #114 MasterSbilt Gen-X entry at Ocala this weekend.
