Perth, Western Australia | Oct. 26, 2013 - Michael 'Magic Man' Figliomeni was arguably one of WA's best ever Speedcar drivers. He was a 4 time Australian Champion, 7 time WA Champion and well respected by both fans and competitors.
He died tragically 28th October 2006 at the Perth Motorplex during a race meeting. He competed in the first 2 heats of the night and won both. After Heat 2 Michael suffered a massive heart attck in the pits and passed away.
In 2007, the Figliomeni family along with the Perth Motorplex arranged a Tribute race for Michael that has been held annually ever since. It has attracted drivers from all over Australia and the world.
The Perth Motorplex, Kwinana Beach is conveniently located in Perth's southern suburbs less than 30 minutes from the City centre.
Opened in December 2000, the multi million dollar facility has become the centre of attraction for automotive based activities including Drag Racing, Dirt Track Speedway, Burnout competitions, Street Machine Car shows, Monster Trucks, Stunt Shows and Super Cross events.
The facility boasts excellent access and a generous car park where patrons can choose from convenience parking or free general parking. All spectator areas have great viewing with Silver tickets and Gold reserved seating tickets with pit paddock access being the most popular.
